Consider the Lilies, 1

Acrylic, ink, and charcoal on paper. 8”x6.” 2019.

The Consider the Lilies series (November 2019) works in tandem with Look At The Birds, as a conversational response to worry and anxiety. Exploring the idea that one can choose to have faith while fear still exists, this series of close intimate portraits of common, everyday Florida “Cast Iron” plants serves as a vehicle for reflection upon the gospel of Matthew. “…Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you? …Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow.”
